A pin to share the recipe for pumpkin chai lattes showing a clear glass mug full of the drink.

This homemade pumpkin chai latte boasts the delicious flavors of real pumpkin puree and masala chai topped with your favorite milk. It’s so easy to make this pumpkin spice chai latte. Your cup will be brimming with warm spices, black tea, and steamed milk in no time! It’s one of my favorite tea recipes.

I combined my homemade pumpkin syrup, chai concentrate, and steamed milk to make the ultimate copycat version of Starbucks pumpkin chai. It’s a near perfect dupe of the coffee shop drink. As a bonus? All the components can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge until ready to use!

    Ingredients for this recipe

    • Pumpkin Sauce – I love my homemade pumpkin syrup because it contains real pumpkin puree.
    • Chai Concentrate – a flavorful black tea brewed with spices like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, allspice, and cloves.
    • Milk – Whatever variation you prefer!
    • Chai Spice Blend – A sprinkle of this to garnish adds so much flavor to this latte!
All the ingredients for a pumpkin chai latte are in various glass measuring bowls on a rimmed baking sheet.

How to make Starbucks pumpkin chai latte

    1. Add the pumpkin syrup to a glass. Two tablespoons should be plenty, but if you like it sweeter, add another tablespoon.
    2. Mix in the chai concentrate. Make sure everything is well combined and then microwave.
    3. Add the steamed milk. Cow, almond, oat, or soy. Whatever you prefer.
    4. Garnish with more spices. A little sprinkle of chai spice blend really makes this drink!

Making a pumpkin chai latte without a milk frother

It’s easy to make pumpkin chai lattes at home without a milk frother or steamer.

    • Combine 2 tablespoons pumpkin syrup with equal parts chai concentrate and milk and place in the microwave or on the stove.
    • Heat liquid until it is steaming.
    • Whisk vigorously for 20 seconds before pouring into a glass.
    • Garnish with a pinch of chai spice blend (if desired) before serving.

    Iced Pumpkin Chai

Starbucks is famous for their iced pumpkin chai lattes. And it’s easy to see why! If you love their pumpkin cream cold brew or an iced pumpkin spice latte, give an iced pumpkin chai a try!

    • Fill a glass with ice.
    • Pour the pumpkin syrup over the ice.
    • Add the chai concentrate.
    • Top with your preferred choice of milk.
    • Stir, garnish with a pinch of your favorite chai spice and enjoy!

    Dirty Pumpkin Chai

Want to really kick things up a notch? Make this pumpkin chai latte dirty by adding a shot or two of espresso. It’s like a dirty chai latte and pumpkin spice latte had a gorgeous, delicious baby! It’s also delicious iced!

    Ingredient Substitutions

Pumpkin Sauce – if you don’t want to make a homemade pumpkin syrup (and why wouldn’t you?) you can purchase the same sauce Starbucks uses online or in-store (provided they have enough in stock).

Chai Concentrate – I make my chai concentrate with Tazo tea and they sell a boxed version of their concentrate in most grocery stores. Other great brands are Oregon Chai and Third Street!

Milk – We drink whole milk at our house, but if you prefer 2% or skim, go with that. Or any plant-based milk you enjoy! This is really the most flexible part of the recipe.
