Two images showing an apple wedge filled with caramel apple jello shot mixture.

Made with caramel vodka, apple brandy, and real caramel sauce these Caramel Apple Jello Shots taste just like the beloved Fall treat! But, with the decidedly adult addition of booze! Pour into cored apple halves and slice into wedges to serve at tailgates, parties, and holiday get togethers. You won’t be sorry!

This jello recipe was such an act of love for me. I’ve been testing it for over a year and I couldn’t be happier with the results or more excited to share it with you!

I’ve got some other jello shot winners you’re sure to love. Like my apple cider jello shots, lemon drop jello shots, and Aperol spritz jello shots!

What can I say? I just love adding gelatin to a beloved cocktail recipe!

    Ingredients you’ll need

You can also use apple juice in place of the apple cider, if that’s all you have on hand! I’ve used that before and they were just as tasty. I think it’s the vodka?

    Caramel Apple Jello Shots Recipe

This is just a brief overview, find detailed instructions in the recipe card below!

Prepare the apple halves and brush with lemon juice.
Bloom the gelatin in vodka and brandy.
Add warmed caramel sauce and apple cider.
Pour gelatin mixture into prepared apples and chill until set.

    Jello Shots in Apple Slices

When I was developing this recipe I found that using a melon baller was a perfect way to get the insides removed quickly, easily, and without poking through the skin of the apple.

If you don’t have a melon baller you can use sharp spoon, like a grapefruit spoon, or a very sharp paring knife and work very carefully.

Of course, you could also pour the jello shot mixture into a pan and cut into squares to serve. This is how I serve my red, white, and blue jello shots!

    Using More Alcohol

Want these shots to be boozier? Feel free to omit the caramel sauce and instead use ½ cup each of the apple brandy and caramel vodka. In my caramel apple martini I omitted the caramel sauce and it’s beyond fabulous.

The shots won’t have that quintessential caramel color, but they’ll certainly be potent!

And that’s not a bad thing!

    Equipment

    • Melon Baller
    • Measuring Cups
    • Muffin Pan

    Ingredients

    • 3 medium-sized Granny Smith Apples
    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, optional
    • ⅓ cup caramel vodka
    • ⅓ cup apple brandy
    • ⅓ cup caramel sauce
    • 2 packages unflavored gelatin
    • 1 cup mulled apple cider (or apple juice)

    Instructions

    • Cut the apples in half lengthwise. Using a melon baller or sharp spoon, carefully remove the inside of the fruit, leaving only a small amount attached to the skin of the apple. This will create a cup for the jello shots!
    • If desired, brush each apple half with lemon juice to prevent browning. (This isn’t totally necessary, but it makes for wonderful presentation.)
    • Settle the apple halves into a muffin tin, ensuring they are even and won’t tip. Set aside.
    • Pour ⅓ cup caramel vodka and ⅓ cup apple brandy into a large measuring cup and sprinkle 2 packages of unflavored gelatin over the top. Set aside for 5 minutes to allow gelatin to “bloom.”
    • While the gelatin blooms, warm the caramel sauce in the microwave until smooth and melty. At the same time, warm the mulled apple cider in a microwave safe cup or on the stove.
    • Pour the hot caramel sauce and apple cider over the bloomed gelatin and stir until gelatin is dissolved, about two or three minutes.
    • Pour the jello mixture through a fine mesh sieve and into the apple cups (This amount is usually perfect for 3 medium-sized apples, but you may have extra depending on the size of your fruit. Pour excess into a lightly greased baking pan or jello shot cups).
    • Refrigerate the caramel apple jello shots for at least 4 hours, or overnight. To serve, slice the apples into wedges.
    • Enjoy responsibly.
