Apple Cider Jello Shots combine the delicious, spiced flavor of mulled apple cider with warm cinnamon whiskey and zesty orange liqueur. They’re like little bites of autumn that pack a potent punch! Pour into cored apple halves and serve in wedges for a boozy bite that will be a hit with everyone (that's over 21)!

I’ve upped my shot serving game with this latest jello recipe . I’m not just putting the shot in a citrus rind (like with my lemon drop jello shots). This time, I made the entire thing edible! You’re welcome.

It’s easier than you think to make these stunners!
Ingredients you’ll need

Making Apple Cider Jello Shots
This is just a brief overview, find detailed instructions in the recipe card below!

Making a Stronger Jello Shot
I tend to go heavier on the alcohol in my jello shot recipes, but for these apple cider ones I pulled back a little bit, using only ⅔ cup of booze in total.

If you want a stronger shot, you can totally do ½ cup each of the cinnamon whiskey and orange liqueur. I tested the recipe multiple times both ways and the ⅔ cup of alcohol was the winner every time.
Alternatively, you could add ⅓ cup apple vodka to the ⅔ cup of booze for even more apple flavor. I use apple vodka in my apple cider martini and it’s oh-so-good! Whichever you choose, make sure you then only use 1 cup of apple cider for 2 cups of liquid total!

Jello Shots in Apple Slices
I don’t want to brag, but I’ve gotten really good at finding fun ways to serve jello shots (hello, Aperol Spritz jello shots in orange segments).
When I was developing this recipe (and my caramel apple jello shots), I found that using a melon baller was a perfect way to get the insides removed quickly, easily, and without poking through the skin of the apple.

If you don’t have a melon baller you can use sharp spoon, like a grapefruit spoon, or a very sharp pairing knife and work very carefully.
Of course, you could also pour the jello shot mixture into a pan and cut into squares to serve. This is how I serve my red, white, and blue jello shots!
You could even use a silicone mold shaped like an apple or a cute fall themed one to get festive and fun shapes! That’s how I make my heart-shaped rosé jello shots for Valentine’s Day.

BRB, gotta go find another way to serve a jello shot.

Apple Cider Jello Shots (In Apple Wedges!)
Equipment
- Melon Baller
- Measuring Cups
- Muffin Pan
Ingredients
- 3 medium-sized apples, such as Honeycrisp or Pink Lady
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (optional)
- ⅓ cup cinnamon whiskey
- ⅓ cup orange liqueur
- 2 packages unflavored gelatin
- 1 ⅓ cups mulled apple cider
Instructions
- Cut the apples in half lengthwise. Using a melon baller or sharp spoon, carefully remove the inside of the fruit, leaving only a small amount attached to the skin of the apple. This will create a cup for the jello shots!
- If desired, brush each apple half with lemon juice to prevent browning. (This isn’t totally necessary, but it makes for wonderful presentation.)
- Settle the apple halves into a muffin tin, ensuring they are even and won’t tip. Set aside.
- Pour ⅓ cup cinnamon whiskey and ⅓ cup orange liqueur into a large measuring cup (if desired, for a stronger shot, use ½ cup of each alcohol) and sprinkle 2 packages of unflavored gelatin over the top. Set aside for 5 minutes to allow gelatin to “bloom.”
- While the gelatin blooms, warm the mulled apple cider in a microwave safe cup or on the stove. (If using ½ cup of each alcohol, you will only need 1 cup of apple cider)
- Pour the hot apple cider over the bloomed gelatin and stir until gelatin is dissolved, about two or three minutes.
- Pour the jello mixture through a fine mesh sieve and into the apple cups (This amount is usually perfect for 3 medium-sized apples, but you may have extra depending on the size of your fruit. Pour excess into a lightly greased baking pan or jello shot cups).
- Refrigerate the apple cider jello shots for at least 4 hours, or overnight. To serve, slice the apples into wedges.
- Enjoy responsibly.
