    Peppermint Marshmallow Un-recipe

I was going share a recipe for peppermint marshmallows today.

Because have you ever had a homemade marshmallow? They’re like little bites of clouds – fluffy and airy and delicate. Ohmygosh. Phenomenal. Particularly the ones at Hot Chocolate (I know, I know, here I go again).

However, for these guys, I went against my better judgment and used a recipe I was unfamiliar with. I normally use this one from the queen of homemaking herself, Martha. And even though that’s the one I always make and have had very few problems with, the fact that it had less than stellar reviews from other people made me think there were better options out there. Even though it worked for me and made me happy.

I feel like there’s an important lesson or metaphor in there somewhere.

These new ones just weren’t right for me. The method was different and felt like something was missing. The results were bland, lifeless, and soggy little squares that tasted like sadness and disappointment. Just what every cup of hot chocolate needs, right?

So, while it would’ve been easy to just throw these pictures up here and talk about this recipe and how you needed to make it, I couldn’t do that. That’s not honest. And what am I doing here if I’m not being honest with y’all about what comes out of my kitchen and should go in your stomachs?

So, instead I’m just going to show you the pictures I took, because at least those turned out somewhat decent. And publish a post regardless of a perfect recipe, because if I’m going to do this blogging thing consistency is key, perfection is unattainable.

I’ve shared links to both recipes so that you can decide for yourself which is better or best. Or hell, maybe you have a better recipe for homemade marshmallows. Do you? Would you share? Please share. Let’s be friends! And maybe together we can create the best marshmallows this world has ever seen!
