There’s a sticker on my computer that says “I <3 Bacon.” Because I don’t believe in false advertising. I do, indeed, heart bacon. So do the strangers who come up to me and shout, “Hey! I love bacon too!” It’s always a nice conversation starter and makes me feel like I’ve found new friends.
Do you want to make new friends? Then first, make this bacon. Glaze it with brown sugar, maple syrup, and a touch of bourbon. Because bacon makes everything better. And bouron makes bacon better. Simple math.
Wait until you see what I do with this bacon tomorrow.
Maple Bourbon Glazed Bacon
(yields one pound)
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup maple syrup
¼ cup bourbon
1 pound bacon (preferably thick sliced, but I was out)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a cooling rack on top of foil.
Whisk together brown sugar, syrup, and bourbon.
Dip one bacon strip in syrup mixture, shaking off excess, and place on rack. Repeat with remaining bacon until rack is full.
Bake in preheated oven for 12 – 15 minutes, or until slightly crisp.
Allow to cool slightly before serving.
