I’ve been fully self-employed for a little over a month now.
Obviously, there’s been quite a learning curve. I’ve never owned a business before, never been my own boss. There have been victories (magazine cover coming soon!) and I have been defeated (lost a major client). On the whole, though, I’d say there have been more positives than negatives and even the negatives have been great learning experiences. (Or at least, that’s what I’m telling myself with the new tools I’m learning in therapy.)
For instance, I think my videos are getting better and better. To the point where I’m actually proud of them!
See, for those of you who don’t know (hi, welcome, please subscribe!), I’m now a full-time recipe developer, food writer, and restaurant photographer. One of my main clients is a local grocery store. I develop two recipes a week for them – one in video format. Over the last year, my edits have gotten smoother, my filming is more consistent, and I’m having fun with different transitions and graphics. I even made a pretty bomb video of a brewery tour we went on!
This week’s video is about this gorgeous looker of a side dish – Brussels Sprouts Au Gratin that are absolutely perfect for the Thanksgiving table. I’m so happy I get to share these recipes with local customers. And with you! Click on over to Webster’s Marketplace YouTube channel for the recipe and to subscribe to their channel.
